White Mountain Public Lands Information Center moves to virtual services
Mono Basin Scenic Area Visitor Center operates during off-season hours
BISHOP, CA, August 24, 2021 – The White Mountain Public Lands Information Center in Bishop is
transition to virtual services.
Saturday August 28 will be the last day of in-person services with US Forest Service employees.
Current hours are Thursday to Monday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., virtual services Tuesday to Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed for lunch noon to 1:00 p.m.
Effective August 29 and until further notice, the White Mountain Public Lands Information Center will be
conduct all business virtually. The hours of operation for US Forest Service activities will be Monday through Sunday (7
days), from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.
For wilderness permits, visitors should call the center at 760-873-2500, 760-873-2501 or 760-873-
2503 to make the necessary arrangements to recover the permits. Staff will drop off the permit outside in the night drop box, to the left of the
front entrance door. Permits can also be obtained by email via [email protected]
Fuelwood permits can be obtained by email Send an email to [email protected] Each
the request must include your name, physical address, mailing address, telephone number, driver’s license
number and number of cords requested. Permits will be returned to applicants by paper mail. Like a
reminder that firewood permits will not be processed from August 22 to September 3, while the new
and the credit card system is implemented.
This has no impact on the bookstore operations, which are managed by Eastern Sierra.

bookstore from Thursday to Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
